TL;DR

Challenge

Infrastructure and application operators managing VMware environments lacked a unified, workflow-centric monitoring surface. Fragmented views, inconsistent navigation, and no clear troubleshooting path caused slow incident response, SLA misses, and operator frustration across the platform.

Constraints

The existing vRealize Operations platform architecture and data models could not be rebuilt from scratch. The redesign had to integrate with existing infrastructure while improving usability without disrupting workflows that operators had already internalized.

Success Metrics

Reduce operator time-to-insight during troubleshooting, improve SLA awareness and alerting clarity, and deliver a unified monitoring experience that operators trust as their primary operations surface.

Design Impact

A workflow-driven redesign grounded in deep domain research and stakeholder alignment transformed a fragmented monitoring experience into a coherent, SLA-aware operations platform.
